Waving Spanish Sailor

Though the Opi are still supporting their beloved Pittsburgh Penguins against the dreaded Detroit Red Wings, gainingFOCUS feels a change is in order to break the bad mojo of last night's 5 - 0 debacle.

So, we give you this Spanish sailor waving to the crowd at Palafox Pier as he prepares to bring down the colors for the night on the tall ship Juan Sebastian de El Cano. We were treated to a beautiful moonrise behind the ship last night, which is what drew me down there with the trusty Canon Rebel xti.

Lots of folks were taking pictures. This is my first offering, more to come.

Update 07/10/09 ---

I just learned that this photo won the Sue Straughn award in Wide Angle Photo Club's Power of Photography show this year. I promise I in no way colluded with my co-worker and friend Sue on this award. She was just as shocked about it as I was. I'm glad she liked it though.
